Prentice Hall Language and Literacy
Grading
This class uses a total points system. Students will be evaluated for growth of knowledge in two ways.
Formative
•Writing Prompts will be daily or almost daily – 5 points
•Exit Tickets – 3-5 points
•Research paper progress checks 3-5 points
•Practice Assignments – 5-10 points
Summative
•End of Unit assessments will consist of either Projects, Essays, or Tests : 100 points
•Quizzes – 10-30 points depending on piece of literature/ vocabulary being evaluated
•Independent Reading Journals – 15 points (there are 4)

Units are assigned on Friday. Vocabulary Homework will be checked on Wednesday. Tests will be on the subsequent Friday.
